The Maine Commission on Indigent Legal Services was established by the Legislature in 2009. Its purpose is to provide high quality representation to Maine citizens who are entitled to counsel at state expense under the United States Constitution or under the Constitution or statutes of Maine. www.maine.gov/mcils/

2-1-1 Maine is a statewide directory of over 10,000 health and human services, staffed by trained 2-1-1 call specialists 24 hours a day.  For services available go to www.211maine.gov

Maine State Housing offers programs to make home buying and rental more affordable for qualified individuals and families; provides assistance with home improvement and repair; assists Maine people with heating and energy costs; and helps people who are homeless or in need of emergency shelter.  Go to www.mainehousing.org for a complete list and explanation of programs and services offered.

Under the Maine Residents Property Tax and Rent Refund “Circuit Breaker” Program eligible Maine residents can receive a partial refund of property taxes and/or rent paid on their primary residence.  Call my office or go to www.maine.gov/revenue/taxrelief/tnr.htm for an application.
